Re-united after nearly 50 years!

After nearly 50 years apart, a newly restored 1969 Mk1 Escort Twin Cam will be re-united with its original rally drivers Mick Briant & Peter Robinson at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2021.

It took the National & International rallying world by storm during its early life, not least winning two rounds of the then British Championship: Motoring News Championship & the RAC Championship.

It was rallied under the Perry’s Ford banner and driven by Mick Briant as a prelude to winning the National Motoring News Rally Championship 3 times. Also driven by Mick’s life-long pal and other Motoring News Championship winning driver Steve Hill.

On one occasion Mick and Peter Robinson (author of Memory Lanes) competed together on the Jim Clark forest stages Rally in Scotland.

Faithfully restored in 2021: All white paintwork as standard, big arch shell, 1558 cc Lotus Twin Cam engine, DCOE Weber carbs, 4 speed gearbox, competition clutch & pressure plate, English axle with 4.7 diff ratio & LSD, coil spring front Bilstein suspension, leaf spring rear, a brace of Cibie spotlights, and a whole host of mods to make this into a rally winning car.

Way ahead of its time, it remains one of the all-time great rally cars.

The new owner and ASM Classics Limited restoration team are delighted to be able to re-unite drivers and car after half a century apart and share stories of the cars history and walk down memory lane at midday on Friday 12th November 2021 at stand 2-740.
